SUMMARY:
Bluejack Design is looking for an eager, talented, and experienced Design Assistant to work alongside our in-house Interior Designer. You will be involved in all aspects of the design process and exposed to a variety of projects. A keen eye for detail is a must. To succeed in this role, you will need to think creatively, identify proactive solutions and problem solve. You must have excellent organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple projects and change course several times a day. Knowledge and exposure to products, selection coordination, and completion of FF&E specifications is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist lead designer with semi-custom builds, estate homes and a la carte projects
- Support in developing Interior Design packages and new construction selections
- Space planning on current and future builds
- Research product, orders or obtains necessary materials adhering to project and budget specifications
- Schedule client appointments
- Work with clients to determine initial goals and requirements
- Determine timelines and project costs and presents accurate estimates to clients
- Prepares sketches or other visual aids to demonstrate preliminary designs to client
- Collaborate with architects, trades and builders to further understand how interior space should function, appear and be furnished
- Uses design applications to prepare and illustrate final plans
- Consult with client to select materials, furnishings and decor
- Oversees the installation of materials, furniture and other design elements
- Ensures client satisfaction by visiting the project on completion with the client; resolves any complaints or concerns
- Upholds current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in Interior Design
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Maintain Design Center library
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Sketchup
- Self-starter who catches on quickly and takes initiative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors
- Strong visual design skills including proportion and aesthetics
