Job Description:
This is an entry-level Customer Care position, with the expectation that within a year, the successful candidate would transition to a Customer Service Representative. As a customer service representative, you are the first point of contact for our customers when they have questions about their bill, our programs and services, how to turn on/off their account when moving, collections, and how TMLP is prepared to support them during storms.
Daily duties include but are not limited to, performing, according to standard office procedures, a variety of duties requiring a degree of decision and knowledge of the functions of the department, including but not limited to the following activities:
1. Examines documents for correctness, utilizes word processing and prepares documents.
2. Research and compile statistics, posts and maintains general records.
3. Maintains files, gives information to the public, requisitions office supplies, and does sorting and mailing/postage/delivery activities including but not limited to:
- Delivery and pickup of office mail as assigned.
- Operation of mailing machines.
4. Performs data input and processing both in the ERP system and other applications.
5. Provides customer service and support including but not limited to the following:
- Handle customer inquiries regarding electric and telecommunications services, programs, and charges. Communicate our customer service policies (prompt payment discounts, security deposits, payment plans etc.).
- Assist in outage management (regular and emergency).
- Process customer payments (cashiering duties including reconciling daily cash, handling cash, credit, PAP, ACH etc.). Establish payment plans.
6. Perform receptionist duties as needed including but not limited to switchboard operation.
7. Provide coverage support for other departments and assist management as necessary.
8. Perform general office and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Demonstrated typing and writing skills required. Demonstrated customer service experience required. Demonstrated experience with computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word & Excel) required and database experience preferred. Familiarity with office equipment (e.g. computers, calculator, postage meter etc.) preferred. Applicants must be courteous, professional, and exhibit excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to acknowledge and maintain the TMLP's policy for customer confidentiality and non-disclosure requirements for this position. Applicants must have the ability to perform the above duties, must possess a valid driver's license and live within 30 minutes of Taunton, MA. Applicants Shall be available to work emergency overtime to meet the needs of the department.
