Description/Duties:

The primary role will be to support NASA - Marshall Space Flight Center’s Environmental Test Facility and contractor personnel in support of NASA research and development, configuration and maintenance of test systems and testing infrastructure. Operate, performing routine maintenance, installation, and integration of various types of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical components such as vacuum systems, pressure transducers, cryogen systems, thermocouples, PLC’s, heater equipment, tubing, etc. The candidate will interface directly with MSFC customers, technicians, and other test team members. The candidate will receive direction from the Department Manager or Team Lead and must be able to work from written and verbal instructions. The candidate will perform other duties as required to fulfill the mission of the MSFC ETF. Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Constructing components, subunits, or simple models of standard equipment
• Trouble shooting & correcting malfunctions
• Following specific layout/diagrams to construct and package simple devices/equipment
• Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgements in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data
• Extracting/compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports & then processing data to identify errors/inconsistencies
• Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operations failures and modifications & using judgement/initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data to clarify information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• US Citizenship required

• Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating System and MS Office products

• Experience reading and understanding specification and detailed work instructions

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship

• Must be dependable and ability to work hours outside the normal schedule
