A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-10 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- GS-09: Assist in developing plans, designs, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for a variety of projects, participate in studies of projects to be accomplished, Draft design activities utilizing a computer aided drafting system such as AutoCAD.
- GS-10: Develop plans, designs, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for a variety of projects, conduct studies of projects to be accomplished, Draft design activities utilizing a computer aided drafting system such as AutoCAD.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands - The work requires some physical exertion. Some characteristics of the work are long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing, or similar activities; recurring lifting of light to moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds (i.e., 23 kilograms), such as testing or measuring equipment; and/or regular visits to construction, or other outdoor sites within and around the installation.
Work Environment - Work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomforts around installation construction sites, such as the following: dust, strong odors, or fumes from fuels, chemicals, or engine exhaust; high levels of noise and vibration, dust, grease, electrical hazards, uncovered moving parts of machinery, moving machinery; or outdoor conditions involving moderate exposure to rain, and cold/hot weather. The work environment requires the incumbent to stay alert continually and to take special safety precautions including wearing special protective items of clothing when visiting construction sites.Education:
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
