Kona Kai Resort is a boutique urban resort located on Shelter Island. With 170 guestrooms, Kona Kai Resort is home to Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina and a private club, all located just minutes from downtown San Diego. We are excited to welcome a new Engineering Supervisor to our island-inspired resort.
JOB OVERVIEW:
As an Engineer, you will be a part of the team responsible for ensuring facility systems and structures are maintained and in working order. We are looking for a new team member who will take ownership of the preventative maintenance program/HVAC to protect our beautiful hotel.
The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for all engineering issues within the hotel to deliver an excellent guest and member experience. You will be performing daily checks, making repairs, coordinating work order completion, inspecting room pm’s, and performing equipment pm’s. Specific tasks will include, but are not limited too:
· Maintaining department parts and materials stock
· General department organization
· Operation of hotel equipment and building automation system
· Supervision of all department line level staff
· Management of work orders
· Diagnostics and repairs of equipment
· Performing equipment PM
· Inspecting guestroom PM
· Performing/ inspecting public area PM
· Perform health and safety inspections throughout resort and grounds
· Perform special projects and other responsibilities assigned

REPORTS TO: Area Director of Property Operations, Chief Engineer
Requirements:To be successful in the Engineering Supervisor position, you:
• Have working knowledge/experience of plumbing and electrical trades
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal procedures
• Knowledge of proper use of power and hand tools including snakes
• Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal communications
• Flexible schedule – must have OPEN availability
Ability to
o Be well-organized and follow instructions.
o Focus on attention to details.
o Prioritize tickets and tasks accordingly.
o Perform well under pressure work assignments.
o Work and perform job functions with minimal direct supervision.
o Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
Desirable
• Working knowledge of HVAC and refrigerant systems
• Working experience of painting and drywall
• Experience in soldering copper pipe
• Experience with pool maintenance
