SUMMARY
The Engineering Project Lead is responsible for the coordination of internal and external cross functional resources to accomplish the completion of a project, as defined by a specific series of tasks. The project scope will be typically associated with the development and release of aerospace fastener new product offerings, enhancements, or cost savings opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the comprehensive organizational review of customer drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Correlates customer design / project inputs into COI new product outputs (drawings / product structures, project schedules).

  • Coordinates extensive interaction with suppliers, external customers and Sales to support the identification and development strategy options for new product releases and/or cost savings opportunities.

  • Conducts regular reviews with R&D to support conceptual investigations, development testing, design validation activities, with the overall objective of facilitating the project transition from the Development Phase to the Industrialization Phase.

  • Oversees activities with Operational and Accounting managerial resources to conduct Return of Investment (ROI) Analysis to support the project financial analysis review and capital expenditure decision-making.

  • Leads the overall activities with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to accurately coordinate the timely completion of new product qualifications, project history file development, and Process Control Document submission to the customer.

  • Provides frequent interaction with Sales and Marketing to support the development of brochures and promotional items associated with a new or existing product.

  • Develops and updates project charter, project plans and work breakdown structures as a tool for resource management and execution of detailed project schedules.

  • Conducts comprehensive review of patents, and coordinates product design reviews with legal resources to support intellectual property investigations.

  • Possesses and maintain a solid understanding of existing and emerging new manufacturing technologies to support their successful deployment in conjunction with product development activities.

  • Performs executive presentations to customers and share holders for project status updates, and leads regularly scheduled project team meetings.

  • Ensures a clear understanding of the LISI RDI project management system, to support new product releases using the phase gate methodology and commonly understood deliverables.
  • Continually exemplifies and is an advocate of LISI Aerospace's Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles as stated in LISI Aerospace's Team Member Handbook.
  • Champions and participates in the LEAP (LISI Excellence Achievement Program) in support of the Company's commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of; HSE, Quality, and Production.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities
No daily Supervisory responsibilities defined. May oversee work activities or assume supervisory responsibilities for specific projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 years engineering experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the aerospace industry.
  • Working experience of manufacturing environment procedures, methods, materials, design and documentation
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications, technical reading and writing; knowledge of manufacturing.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to support engineering analysis and problem solving.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software; Testing software; Simulation software; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing (Lawson Movex preferred) software; Project Management software, and Microsoft Office software.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
