Vadum is seeking an Engineering Manager that will collaborate with peers to develop innovative solutions, tools and processes that will be leveraged across the company to drive growth. This position will be responsible for program solution development, planning and execution, talent development and innovation in a designated business area.
Key Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the schedules and projects assigned to team members.
- Hires and trains direct reports.
- Provide leadership and management oversight of machine learning and signal processing algorithm developers, and software development engineers and scientists on the assigned team.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Define, develop and implement solutions to market and customer requirements in concert with the BA leadership team.
- Help develop the tools and infrastructure to support the BA and company's growth within the engineering discipline.
- Lead and or support proposal efforts within the business area and company.
- Work in concert with the CTO, Chief Engineers and Sr Technical staff to define and implement product roadmaps & architectures for both the Business Area and Company that will drive growth.
- Support business development efforts as needed to capture new programs and content on current programs.
- Work with internal/external customers and development partners to define and shape requirements and solutions.
- Mentors team members to grow their technical skills and contributions to the overall company.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of software systems and programming languages.
- Proficient with software engineering tools and applications.
- Demonstrated capabilities in signal processing, streaming analytics, algorithm development and solution development.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly understand and articulate technical issues that affect solution and outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in developing winning proposals/solutions and in their development execution.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Maintain US Citizenship.
- Maintain Security Clearance.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field required.
- At least 5 years of related professional (technical) experience required.
- At least 3 years of management experience or the ability to demonstrate management capabilities through equivalent leadership experiences.
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
