ARM GROUP is looking for an Engineering Maintenance & Projects Leadfor our leading client located in Chicago , IL.
Role Purpose
The purpose of the role is to lead the utilities, projects, and maintenance functions and head the support function to help achieve the desired production numbers and ensure the smooth operations of the plant machinery to achieve optimum costs
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Strategizing
- Prepare a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment in the plant and agree to it with the Production and Plant Head
- Raise monthly indents based on preventive maintenance schedules and breakdowns
- Ensure downtime control/reduction to improve OEE
- Plan and allocate maintenance budget.
- Plan annual maintenance shutdowns
- Plan for the execution of all projects
- Plan and execute all calibration schedules.
Policy Implementation and Review
- Review and update policies and processes for insurance for the plant equipment and agree them with the Plant Head
- Create and implement a policy for equipment maintenance.
- Review laid down maintenance plans and their compliances.
- Review daily equipment log sheets (prepared by the specific maintenance team members) periodically.
- To ensure proper documentation, information flow, root cause analysis of CAPA, and effectiveness of CAPA at plant location
- Update the preventive maintenance schedule and breakdown reports every month
Coordination, Interface, Imparting Training to Internal and External entities
- Liaison with Plant Head and Production to align maintenance plans, ensure that requirements are met, and information is shared
- Organise periodic training for plant personnel on equipment operation, safety procedures, quality requirements, and standard operating procedures.
- Organise and ensure the technical team is trained on various maintenance techniques.
Management of performance, capability, and morale
- Manage the performance of the maintenance personnel, support capability building, and ensure that individual and individual/ team morale and motivation are maintained positively
- Encourage team members to take on bigger responsibilities
Infrastructure and Technology Investment and Management
- Create proposals for new/ improved equipment for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Maintain equipment and infrastructure in a good and healthy working condition.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Ensure preventive maintenance of plant equipment to minimize downtime.
- Efficient breakdown maintenance

- Plan and allocate maintenance budget.

Technical Skills and Knowledge
- 15-18 years in core utilities & maintenance domain in FMCG / Pharma company
- Strategic Thinking and in-depth knowledge of maintenance management, technology, and infrastructure
- Financial & Commercial Acumen
- Thorough understanding of the soap manufacturing process - a must.
- Knowledge of soap manufacturing equipment (mixers, plodders, roll mill, Crutcher)
- Knowledge of soap packing machines (wrapping, cartooning, pouching, banding, bundling, overwrapping)
- Fair knowledge of electrical and instrumentation (circuit breakers, transformers, measurement techniques, motors, PLCs, SCADA, VFDs, starters)
- Knowledge of boilers, water treatment, air compressors, DGs, AHUs, Chillers, pumps, mechanical seals, pipes & fittings, valves
- Understanding of inventory management
- Ability to read and analyze people's behavior.
- Proven ability to build, sustain, and influence relationships, at all levels of an organization.
- Strong conceptual, planning, conflict management, and decision-making skills
- Deep data analysis, planning, and forecasting skills
- Strong techno-commercial negotiation and relationship management skills
