Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they're well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:
The Predictive Maintenance Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing innovative predictive alerting and health monitoring solutions for United's fleet of aircraft, engines, and APUs. They lead efforts in applying asset data to improve reliability by predicting system failures, enabling proactive maintenance, and minimizing operational disruptions. Collaborating with Engineers, Data Scientists, Aircraft Health Monitoring teams, and Aircraft Maintenance personnel, they follow United's Aircraft Predictive Alerting Committee process to ensure solutions are fully vetted, fit into United's Integrated Aircraft Health Monitoring program, and address all relevant regulatory requirements. The Predictive Maintenance Engineer will regularly monitor the performance of existing predictive alerts and recommend retraining or redesign as required.
Job overview and responsibilities:
  • Lead the process of developing Predictive Maintenance alerts and health monitoring solutions by collaborating with various teams including Engineers, Data Scientists, and Aircraft Health Monitoring Teams through the Aircraft Predictive Alerting process
  • Act as a liaison to engineering, maintenance, and data science authorities to support the building, testing, and operationalizing of predictive alerts, health monitoring solutions, and the Integrated Aircraft Health Monitoring process for a fleet area of focus (aircraft, engines and APUs, or other assets)
  • Support operational teams responsible for ongoing monitoring of alert performance
  • Act as a liaison to frontline teams as required to ensure successful execution of proactive maintenance
  • Complete projects as assigned and support execution of programs and special projects

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant work experience
  • Entry level to 5 years of experience in engineering or data driven role
  • Knowledge of engineering or aviation concepts
  • Self-starter with ability to think creatively and evaluated sophisticated problems, project management and organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Excel and Power Point skill

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Airline or operations experience in a similar industry, experience in propulsion or systems engineering, data analysis experience
  • Knowledge of aircraft or engine reliability principles, ability to write, debug, and solve software codes
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical system design in aviation, automotive, or similar industries, knowledge of aviation CFR regulations
