DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Leads the development of electrical capabilities within SRS to enable growth and effectively support project demands. Work with SRS Federal Engineering Practice Lead and Federal Market Leads to proactively hire and train staff to support the SRS strategic mission.
- Responsible for workload among staff, provide project leadership on complex projects, provide quality control reviews, and be prepared to provide designer of record responsibilities for work performed by staff.
- The role requires development of electrical engineering scopes of work and associated fees as well as developing and enforcing uniform design and drawings standards for the electrical team.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply industry standard engineering techniques and procedures related to electrical engineering; Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design work; Prepare designs, specifications, and construction documents; Develop consistent national design standards and QA/QC procedures and enforce across all MBI offices.
- Support market lead staff by providing subject matter expertise in proposal support and also on interviews with clients for future work.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (with a focus on electrical engineering)
- 15+ years of experience in the electrical design of vertical construction projects in commercial, institutional, and Federal Government facilities.
- Licensed Professional Engineer with active registration.
- The preferred offices where this position can be located is Denver, CO, Midvale, UT, Pittsburgh, PA, Phoenix, AZ, San Diego, CA, or Santa Ana, CA with ability to work in office a minimum of three days per week.
- Possess the ability to proactively coordinate project designs with other interfacing multi-disciplinary team members (i.e., project managers, architects, mechanical and structural engineers, fire protection engineers, civil engineers, etc.).
- Demonstrated administrative, organizational and staff management skills; previous experience managing electrical design staff.
- Previous experience creating fee proposals for electrical design work.
- Previous experience with resource assignments, staff workload balancing, and agility to address workload demands to address client and project manager requirements.
- Previous experience with business metrics including utilization, revenue and profitability, and staff retention.
- Previous experience with developing work plans to successfully accomplish electrical design projects within budget and schedule.
- Previous experience with preparing performance evaluations, evaluating staff technical capabilities, and developing career goals for electrical staff.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense, state and local government, client, and industry codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects.
- Previous experience with both design-bid-build and design-build project delivery methods.
- Have a working knowledge of common electrical engineering analysis and design software similar to SKM, AGi32, ElumTools, etc.
- Previous experience mentoring and developing staff for next steps in a progressive career.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills both in office and via teleconference.
- Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance.
- Available for periodic travel up to 15% to support interoffice coordination and visit client sites for meetings and projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in related discipline.
- Active DOD Security Clearance.
- Previous experience performing electrical designs for Department of Defense projects using Unified Facility Criteria.
- Working knowledge of AutoDesk Revit software for electrical modelling.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $137,000-220,000 This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
