We are seeking an innovative engineering leader who will continue to deliver best-in-class products to the market. Our product development team has mapped a robust product-pipeline that is the foundation of our growth for the next decade and beyond.
The Engineering Director oversees the daily operations of the engineering department and the long-term application of strategic planning. As a member of the company’s senior leadership team, you will be responsible for creating policies and objectives for the department in collaboration with other director-level positions in the company. You will own the department’s finances and will provide project management leadership.
In addition to being a senior leadership position, we expect the Engineering Director to be the technical leader and an outstanding developer with the confidence to lead by example. You will be called upon to provide best-practice guidance including developing best-in-class code.
Essential Leadership Functions:
- Minimum of 8 years managing an engineering team with software, electrical and firmware disciplines.
- Proven project management and problem solving / analysis skills, CAPM or PMP highly desirable.
- Demonstrated history of leading a team to develop products for Industrial Applications from concept to commercialization.
- Drives good design practice and discipline in product development and Improves design and product development methodology.
- Contributes to Annual Operating Plan and Key Performance Indicators.
- Recommends budgets, including staff use, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.
- Leads new architectures with compelling value proposition and disruptive value.
- Negotiates contracts with consulting firms to perform research or other applicable studies or support functions.
- Directs appropriate support for manufacturing and quality functions within the organization.
- Responsible for direct management, coaching and development of direct reports.
Essential Technical Functions:
- Strong programming skills in C/C++, and experience with HTML, JavaScript or similar languages.
- Experience with ARM or RISC processors and or DSPs, real-time debugging tools, fixed-point DSP assembly languages, compilers, linkers, JTAG debuggers, and revision control concepts.
- Expertise in the design, development, and integration of communication protocols.
- Development and debug experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) preferably with Keil OS.
- Expertise in at least one area related to process automation, serial or Ethernet network communication, or wireless applications.
- Experience with UI/Web or SQL development and tools.
- Experience with writing device drivers to communicate with multiple SPI, I2C, CAN and Bluetooth devices.
- Experience with designing webserver applications.
- Knowledge of RSLogix Rockwell automation SW tool would be desirable.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or related discipline, from an accredited university. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven project management and problem solving / analysis abilities CAPM or PMP.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Understanding of applicable financial management principles.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge or familiarity with cloud architectures, ‘big data’ collection & processing, Industrial IoT, and related technologies.
- Five years of industrial automation and a PLC background.
- Experience with industrial controls.
- Experience with microcontroller-based designs and industrial interfaces.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Able to adjust working hours according to business needs.
- Must be able to travel by air and ground.
- While visiting customers and suppliers’ industrial facilities, must be able to wear protective equipment and stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
