We are currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Advanced Technology team here at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center. This person will assist with the design, development, and testing of new products, components, and materials and the improvement of existing products and components.
This is a 100% on-site position.
The Engineering Technician:
- Designs and builds prototypes, test fixtures, sets up equipment, and performs product testing.
- Monitors and analyzes test data and prepares written test reports.
- Develops and maintains test sheets, indexes, databases and spreadsheets.
- Organizes and maintains departmental records.
- Installs units for field performance testing.
- Reviews test procedures/methods and develops new ideas or ways to revise current practices for increased efficiency and quality output.
- Troubleshoots and maintains test equipment.
- Maintains tools and keeps lab orderly.
- Applies working knowledge of company systems and procedures to support engineering in facilitating project transitions from one phase to the next.
- Participates on cross functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, quality, and cost reduction activities. Responsible for communicating to team status of projects, test results, and recommendations for design or material changes.
- Researches and obtains resources for prototyping projects, ensuring materials match product requirements and are cost effective.
- Trains technicians and interns on test procedures and equipment, model building, record keeping, brazing, and other duties.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Associates degree in Engineering (preferred)
- 1-3 years of lab, testing, and troubleshooting experience required
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents as well as engineering drawings and documents
- Ability to write and report technical information
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate shop equipment and hand tools
- Electrical and electronics background preferred
- Solid understanding of test theory and procedures, with the ability to guide others
- Ability to interpret test results and collect data
