We are looking for an engineer to support a team of multidisciplinary engineers and scientists in the manufacture and design of our high-tech optical products. We are a small but rapidly growing company with an experienced team of engineers, so it’s an opportunity for the right candidate to learn and develop a diverse skillset.
This is probably an entry level position for a candidate that would like to get hands-on experience in design and manufacture, but applications are open for all candidates. The hours are flexible; onsite hours would preferably be 20 hours per week within 7:30 AM-5:00 PM (M-F), but a full time position could be possible for the right candidate. Pay is dependent upon qualifications. Candidates must be permanent residents or citizens of the US.
Job Duties
· Build and test systems for delivery to customers and distributors
· Document assembly and test processes
· Suggest and implement improvements to product design and manufacturing processes
· Build and test prototypes to validate new designs and software releases
· Help with engineering tasks such as cable design, firmware programming, electronics design and/or mechanical design.
· Work from written/verbal instructions, technical manuals, engineering specifications or schematics.
Minimum Required Skills/Experience
· Technical acumen and ability to learn independently
· Proficient using hand tools to build mechanical and/or electronic assemblies. This is essential.
· Proficient using computers for testing and operating equipment
· Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical testing used in a lab environment
· Ability to work in a group environment
· Good oral and written communication skills
Other Valuable Skills/Experience
· Associate Degree in an engineering related technology, either received or in-progress.
· Experience with Solidworks would be an advantage.
