Title: Data Scientist
Location: Sacramento, CA
Duration: 8+ months
The Data Scientist will be responsible for data analytics processes and results for the Platform R&D team. This position will be a contributor on the team responsible for:
• Identifying customer populations and key data elements in support of data enrichment and analysis input
• Define and build data repositories to support long-term analytics needs and centralize commonly referenced data
• Identifying data sources and data gaps
• Perform analytics required to support various projects or information requests
• Identify requirement for and work with teams to build reports to support ongoing information needs relative to the client processes and controls
• Defining and executing queries or logic to retrieve data from various sources within and possibly outside of the client.
• Analyzing data and creating summaries in MS Word or PowerPoint for engineering lead review and communication
Required Qualifications
Extensive Python and SAS programming languages.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Develop, maintain tools to collect and process assay data; ; automate report generation per regulatory requirements; visualize microbial growth patterns; detect anomalies/errors in datasets.
Develop, manage, and automate various biological algorithms.
Collaborate with microbiologists and other stakeholders with the goal of validating and verifying various data processing tools.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Master's degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Microbiology, Software Engineering, Biological/Chemical Engineering)
4+ years' experience converting SAS code to python for data analysis and report generation.
5+ years' experience developing and maintaining Python, SAS codes for large scale data processing.
4+ years building and maintaining NoSQL and RDBMSystems
4+ years building interactive dashboards in PowerBI or Tableau ecosystem It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in /familiarity with:
FDA Design controls for medical devices
Software engineering development best practices
Desired Qualifications
• SQL and R programming experience
• Statistical analysis experience (regression, correlation, variability analysis)
• Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Other Desired Qualifications
• 1+ years' experience in performing in a data science role within analytics teams
• Experience implementing and defining process to support data analytics and result communication
• Experience building and retaining documentation to track analysis results and logic
• Experience working with multiple database solutions and retrieving and consolidating data from disparate information sources
• Experience as data scientist in the medical laboratory instrumentation line of business.
