Sr. Thermal System Modeling & Design Engineer, Energy Products

The Tesla Energy Products team is bringing battery and solar technology to the grid to facilitate a renewable energy ecosystem and redefine the way the world will use energy in the future. As part of the Thermal Architecture team, you are the design lead that defines and designs the Thermal Systems that make Tesla Energy products like Megapack, Supercharger and Powerwall world class.  This role involves collaboration with designers, engineering, manufacturing, firmware and service and requires the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to model and design Thermal Systems that are at the core of Tesla’s success.  Our team is small, committed, fast moving and we believe a diverse team of motivated individuals can accomplish almost anything.  We are problem solvers, team players and game changers. • Fluency in the use of analytical simulation tools for thermal analysis, including Matlab and CFD software
• Experience modeling and testing thermal components, examples include fans, pumps, compressors, fluid connections, heat sinks, heat exchangers
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
• Demonstrable motivation and ability to solve novel, difficult thermal design problems
• CFD Modeling experience
• Passion for renewable energy
