PLC and SIS experience is a plus
Assignment Information
Hours per week: 40
Start date: ASAP
Duration of assignment: 6 months to Hire
Onsite Position/Hybrid/Remote? Onsite Position
Worksite location: 340 Meadow Rd, Edison, NJ 08837
What are the shift hours? 7 to 4
OSHA PPE? If yes, what PPE? Yes, Nomex, hard hat, steel toe shoes, gloves, and glasses.
Is there any site-specific training we need to be aware of? TWIC is needed to work on the site. COP training will be provided by the site.

1. Must have knowledge in instrumentation and electrical system

Basic Function:
Working in a team environment, in this role the engineer is responsible for implementing reliability best practices, developing and optimizing preventive maintenance tasks; as well as supporting maintenance activities. The position interacts with other engineers, specialists, and technicians at the site, corporate technical networks, peers at other locations, and vendors/suppliers as needed to resolve problems and improve plant reliability and performance.
Roles & Responsibility:
Monitor instrument & equipment performance and make improvement recommendations.
Provide I&E technical support/expertise in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets to minimize life cycle cost and maximize availability.
Participate in interdisciplinary reliability improvement teams to guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, controls, and safety systems.
Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions
Provide basic level support for the DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: BS degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, or power generation industries is preferred.
The successful candidate must exhibit an understanding of Management of Change (MOC) requirements, reliability processes, and maintenance workflow.
Basic knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) design and logic and be able to obtain a Functional Safety Practitioner certification within 2 years of date of hire
Strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective communication of complex issues across the organization as well as for mentoring and consensus building.
The successful candidate must have strong commitment to safety, a high level of personal integrity, and dedication to conducting business in an ethical way.
The individual must have or develop basic proficiency in the following areas:
Interpretation and application of industry codes and standards (i.e. IEEE, ISA, NEC)
Process instrumentation and control valves
Motors, motor controls, and drives
PLC maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming
Project management
Reliability Engineering concepts
Reliability data analysis techniques
Predictive and Preventive Maintenance concepts
Basic knowledge of power distribution systems
Ability to apply computer software tools (SAP, Microsoft Office, CAD)
Provide very special knowledge and judgment in a specific field or discipline of the mathematical, physical, or engineering sciences. Performs advanced complex assignments, which require the application of engineering education, training or experience under the close supervision of a Professional Engineer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Independently practices applying engineering principles in discipline of competency. Prepares highly complex specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed. Analyzes and assists other lower level engineers with designs are needed. Mentors less experienced engineers, designers and drafters. Performs engineering studies to evaluate customer needs and develop alternative solutions that will be technically sound and economically feasible. Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements. Visits job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions. Interfaces with other disciplines and clients. Participates in sales presentations. Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions. Prepares bid tabulations on complex purchases. Reviews vendor drawings. Develops a focus on least cost, safe design. May interface with construction crews during construction phase to provide and receive input relative to accuracy of drawings, coordination of shutdowns and to expedite the timely and efficient completion of the project. Supervises design personnel and other staff specialists. Ensures that project schedule and budget of assigned projects are maintained. Have knowledge and understanding of the cost elements of project in assigned discipline. Maintain and apply standards for quick budget estimates. Keeps supervisor informed of progress. Meets company quality assurance requirements for personal work assignments. Supports field assignments as required. Must be able to perform the task in the lower classifications.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or higher in science or engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Minimum of 10+ years experience in the industry. May substitute relevant years of experience related to this industry in lieu of Bachelor degree requirement.
