ZF Transmissions Gray Court, LLC has a job opening for the position of Engineer III - Manufacturing (Machining) based out of its location in Gray Court, SC.
Job Duties: Responsible to work with plant personnel (e.g., maintenance technicians & facilitator, engineers) to analyze manufacturing processes; Troubleshoot machining & assembly equipment problems to support process operation; Select and implement equipment on the floor from delivery to production; Identify design changes to enhance machine functionality; Continuously improve/upgrade equipment; Plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow & design layout of equipment/workspace for max. efficiency; Confer with design staff concerning product design to ensure efficient production; Determine product specifications for purchase of equipment, materials, tooling, fixturing or parts per specifications & quality standards; Assess suppliers for production equipment, tooling & fixturing; Plan evolution of equipment and perform acceptance evaluation per specifications; Plan production times, staffing requirements and equipment costs to provide information for management decisions; Support day-to-day production; Create procedures, PFMEA’s & workflows to meet industry standards; and Understand & comply with quality & environmental standards/requirements. Position requires up to 20% travel to domestic and international supplier locations/facilities in order to perform machine/tooling acceptance testing, to address quality issues with supplier, and to attend supplier trainings.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related field plus 5 years of experience in occupations in the automotive industry in which manufacturing engineering experience was gained, and demonstrated experience with: Troubleshooting and problem solving for manufacturing equipment; SPC; Minitab; Ishikawa diagrams; 5Y; Cost Analysis and budgeting; Reading blueprints; Plant layouts for automotive assembly or manufacturing; Pneumatics and hydraulics; SAP; CNC programming; Creo; and Gear manufacturing and gear tooling. Must have Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (or higher). We will accept experience acquired at any time, including experience acquired prior to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
