Director of People Systems

The Director of People Systems plays a significant role in driving cross-team operational excellence for our growing Firm. This individual will be a member of our Human Resources team and is responsible for delivering and executing overall management of People operations and systems, with a focus on talent acquisition, strategic relationships, business development, and retention.
The AIE Human Resources Team is an enabling area that delivers a breadth of services through a customer-centric shared services model. This role works across a full scope of HR activities from employee engagement and professional development to data integrity, compliance and analytical reporting.
What you’ll do
- Recruit, Develop and maintain strategic relationships with prospective and current employees, including sourcing, assessing, and hiring candidates with expertise in Civil Engineering/Construction Management across multiple disciplines
- Talent Sourcing: Identify and attract top civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and support staff talent through various channels, including job boards, social media, industry associations, career fairs, universities, referrals, and direct outreach
- Play a pivotal role in expanding and maintaining our team of talented engineers and our enabling areas to achieve our ambitious growth goals
- Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with Hiring Managers and Discipline Leaders to identify business needs, develop job descriptions while keeping hiring managers and leadership informed on the status of open roles, candidates in the pipeline, and efforts towards challenging vacancies
- Candidate Screening and Interview Coordination: Review resumes and assess candidates' qualifications, experience, and cultural fit. Schedule and coordinate interviews and/or phone screenings with hiring managers and technical teams, ensuring a smooth interview process for candidates
- Offer Management: Collaborate with hiring managers to prepare competitive job offers and negotiate terms with selected candidates
- Onboarding Support: Assist the HR team in the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, salary benchmarks, and competitor hiring practices to provide insights to the organization
- Assisting in HR department as needed.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of the AEC Industry and familiar with recruitment culture

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to network and build relationships
- Strong organizational, project management and time-management abilities
- Knowledge of employment/hiring laws and regulations
- Results-driven and adaptable to changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years in a management level role or higher
- Experience with the AEC industry (Architecture / Engineering / Construction
- This role is based out of our corporate headquarters in Middletown, CT, and in office presence is required
- Up to 50% travel throughout New England/NYC to branch offices and industry events
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years with recruitment experience in the AEC Industry
- Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) experience
- Applicant Tracking System (ATS) experience and other recruitment tools
