Responsibilities:
Functions under a registered nurse’s (RN) (i.e., RN/Nurse Manager, RN/Assistant Nurse Manager, RN/Clinical Nurse (JC: 030803), and/or RN/Flex Staff Nurse (JC: 032003)) oversight. Assists Doctors of Medicine (MDs) and RNs with all endoscopy procedures. Repositions patients on stretchers. Maintains an environment conducive to patients’ safety. Assists in admitting and discharging outpatients, including interviewing and documenting the same on charts.
Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma (or equivalent)
One (1) year of Endoscopy Technician experience performing percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopies, bronchoscopies, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
Competencies required in PEG, EGD, colonoscopies, bronchoscopies, ERCP, and EUS; competencies validated upon hire
Endoscopy technician certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), and/or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. Completion of a formal Endoscopy Technician training program. Nursing assistant certification.
