Now Hiring - Employment Specialist
The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY, a Human Services Agency, is seeking to hire caring and organized Employment Specialists to assist individuals in preparing for, obtaining and maintaining competitive employment with a focus on achieving their goals.

Employment Specialist Responsibilities:
1. Accurate completion of all intake documents
2. Facilitation of Job Readiness classes, and other programs as necessary
3. Make referrals to the Supported Employment program, including an introduction to the program and facility including, and the completion of a pre-employment screening/hire packet.
4. Complete all necessary paperwork (e.g. program status change, program application, Developmental Disabilities Profile (DDP) forms, daily attendance record, payroll, billing documents, termination reports, etc.)
5. Measure performance on tests, work samples, subcontracts, etc.
6. Identify appropriate work settings for assessment and job placement purposes
7. Conduct interviews, assessments and meetings in agency, school and community work settings, as necessary
8. Provide the supports necessary for the individual to attain employment
9. Recommend work settings using a person-centered approach
10. Monitor work behavior and performance and accurately document all observations
11. Provide crisis intervention, support and one-to-one instructions, as appropriate
12. Attend all necessary meetings, such as case reviews, staff meetings, supervisory meetings, etc.
13. Maintain appropriate levels of communication with the individual, referring agent, staff and others, as applicable
14. Maintain a caseload which includes, but is not limited to, individuals that have been referred by ACCES-VR for Supported Employment services
15. Coordinate transportation services, when necessary, for new individuals receiving services.
16. Assist employers by providing training techniques and strategies to mitigate the individual's barriers to employment
17. Initiate and develop new program ideas, in-service training, etc.
18. Complete all necessary training and in-services (including SCIP, First aid, CPR, and NTSI, as required), as well as additional trainings
19. Obtain at least 6 hours annually of continuing education in Supported Employment by participating in OPWDD's Innovations in Employment Supports trainings.
20. Exhibit flexibility in work schedule to accommodate participant, employer or other stakeholder’s needs.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with three years of experience, or a Master's Degree with one year of experience
- Will consider alternate combinations of education and experience
- Must have a current valid NYS Driver's License.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with flexibility based on program needs.
Job Status: Non-exempt
