Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Employment Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities in the Fremont and Fostoria area to obtain and retain employment. Your primary objective will be to prepare individuals for successful employment, manage a case load of clients, and provide ongoing support throughout the employment process. This is a full-time position with Monday through Friday hours, offering the flexibility to create your own schedule. Paid time off and holidays are included.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with individuals with disabilities to assess their skills, interests, and goals related to employment.
- Provide individualized employment counseling and career guidance to help clients identify suitable job opportunities.
- Offer coaching and support to enhance job readiness, including resume preparation, interview practice, and job search strategies.
- Collaborate with employers to develop job opportunities and secure competitive employment for program participants.
- Conduct vocational assessments to determine strengths, limitations, and potential barriers in employment.
- Develop and implement personalized employment plans for each client, outlining steps toward achieving employment goals.
- Assist clients with the application and interview process, advocating for reasonable accommodations if needed.
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up services to ensure successful job placement, retention, and career advancement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as vocational rehabilitation counselors and community service providers, as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of disability-related issues and knowledge of employment resources and services.
- Excellent communication skills to build rapport with clients, employers, and community partners.
- Ability to assess clients' skills, strengths, and limitations and develop individualized employment plans.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software for documentation and data management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or within the field of vocational rehabilitation.
- Familiarity with local resources and job markets in the Fremont and Fostoria area.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and programs related to disability employment.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time position with Monday through Friday hours.
- You will have the flexibility to create your own schedule within the designated work hours.
- Paid time off and holidays are provided.
- Pay range: 18.00−19.50 per hour.
