Employee Health Nurse

We are currently seeking a per diem Employee Health nurse to join our Human Resources Team in our Employee Health office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs pre-placement health assessments on prospective employees, including navigation of drug screening.  Accurately identifies areas in need of further exploration and evaluation to determine fitness for duty.  Provides guidance for reasonable accommodation.
• Provides accurate assessments, counseling and/or referrals as deemed indicated.  Serves as a resource for workplace health related concerns.  Coordinates and implements programs that support the health and well-being of caregivers.
• Effectively coordinates and administers immunization and screening programs, reaching eligible employees (caregivers) as demonstrated by caregiver compliance.
• Works with caregivers who are requesting workplace accommodations to ensure compliance with the ADA.
• Partners with Caregiver Experiences on Worker’s Compensation initiatives and caregiver injury follow up.
• Responsible for the quality assurance program of the Employee Health service, such as monthly statistics on tuberculosis exposure/screening and immunization infectious exposures/screening.
• Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure completion of all health screenings.
• Oversees Return to work evaluations/fitness for duty for current caregivers.
• Investigates work related injuries, collaborative efforts with Human Resources and Safety Committee
• Ongoing oversight of students and Travelers immunization records
• Serves as a resource for staff questions related to personal issues of concern (referral to EAP services)
• Provides annual reporting to state entities and to Quality.
• Monitor and update Employee Health policies and procedures.
• Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposure to communicable diseases.
• Participates in our annual Flu Vaccine Program.
• Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues.
• Provides education on an as-needed basis regarding isolation practices.
• Tracks and monitors new hire drug screening.  Serves as primary contact with MRO and reports results to new hire.
• Conducts COVID testing on caregivers and reports results.
• Coordinates N-95 fit testing on all new hires and on an as-needed basis.
• Strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Functions within the RN scope of practice.
• Demonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements pertinent to Employee Health and safety.
• Maintains Employee Health records.
• Maintains summary and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting.
• Participates as an active member of the Infection Control Committee and on hospital-wide committees at the request of executive level management.
• Demonstrates cost control in all practice activities.
• Documents employee visits thoroughly and accurately.
• Maintains and ensures confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
• Assists with reporting and compliance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Licensure/Certifications/Qualifications:

• Current licensure in the state of Maine as a Registered Nurse or Compact licensure.  Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
• BSN preferred.
• Two years of nursing experience is required along with experience working in an Employee Health clinic, infectious disease or internal medicine preferred.
• CPR Certification required.
