General Summary:
Harris County Precinct 2 is looking for an Internal Communication & Special Projects Coordinator. This role is a pivotal role within the Public Safety & Organizational Development Office, responsible for managing/maintaining internal communication strategies and overseeing Special Projects aimed at fostering a well-informed and engaged team. This position requires strong communication skills, project management expertise, and a commitment to promoting a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with Pct. 2 Marketing/Communications dept. to ensure Internal Communications & marketing materials fall in line with overall organization brand.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Internal Communication: Develop, implement, and manage internal communication strategies to ensure that the precinct team is informed about key initiatives, policies, and updates.
Collaboration: Foster collaboration and open communication among staff members. Encourage information-sharing and knowledge transfer.
Content/marketing materials development: Create and distribute Internal Communications, including newsletters, flyers, memos, and announcements. Ensure that information is clear, concise, and engaging.
Special Projects: Oversee the planning and execution of Special Projects, events, and initiatives that enhance teamwork, staff development, and workplace culture.
Crisis Communication: Assist in developing and implementing internal communication messaging during crisis situations.
Manage the department content calendar and internal intranet.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Human Resources, or a related field.
A minimum of 1-3 years working in communications with a focus on social media management, content development, and copywriting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience in internal communication, employee engagement, or related roles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Knowledge of best practices in internal communication and staff development.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position.
Days and hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Hours may vary based on business needs of the department and some weekend, evening hours or holidays may be required during special events.
Work Environment:
Mandatory work during activation of emergency operations for support.
This job operates in a clerical, office setting.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Noise level in the work environment is usually average.
Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
This would require the ability to lift files of up to 50 lbs., open filling cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
