We are seeking a full-time EMC Engineer 1in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing tasks associated with completing Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Certifications.
Essential Functions
- Develop and write test plans and reports that will result in correct/complete test data and reports used to show EMC compliance with respective requirements
- Gain understanding of technical requirements and test setups
- Develop skills in the definition, documentation and development of test setups that will be used during EMC testing including harnesses, test loads, and definitions of new interfaces
- May participate in EMC testing at test facilities including scheduling of testing, staffing recommendations, result documentation and recommending disposition of any anomalies
- Partner with cross functional engineering teams to achieve EMC and radio transmitter certifications
- Create and implement test plans for products that contain GPS navigation, HD traffic, wireless video, radar and driving recorder platforms as well as connected services using technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi
- Test prototypes for RF emissions, properly document test results and communicate test plan deliverables to project teams while providing visibility to leadership
- Thoroughly document work in an organized manner and offer process improvements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrates basic knowledge and/or understanding of RF technology
- Demonstrates basic knowledge and/or understanding of electrical circuits
- Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Word & Excel
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Knowledge and/or experience with ESD, EMC or EMI testing and country certifications or homologations with ability to review designs and offer suggestions for improvements
- Previous work or internship experience with circuit design for consumer/aviation products and/or experience working at a commercial testing laboratory
- Knowledge and/or experience with ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100, IATF6949
