Position DescriptionFlagstaff Academy seeks an Elementary School Assistant Principal for the 2024-25 school year. The Assistant Principal will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, analysis, and evaluation of the Elementary School’s curriculum, instructional services, assessment, research, and evaluation services. The Assistant Principal ensures that the school’s education objectives are aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards and the Core Knowledge sequence. The Assistant Principal reports to the Executive Principal and participates as a member of the Leadership team. The Elementary Assistant Principal will have supervisory oversight for Elementary School instructional and support staff of Flagstaff Academy.
We are seeking an Assistant Principal who:

  • Supports all aspects of instructional and curriculum integration of technology.
  • Supervises the administration and analysis of all state and local assessments
  • Participates in the supervision process of teachers through classroom observations and coaching through a cycle of continuous improvement.
  • Maintains involvement and partnerships with the School Accountability Committee, Parent Teacher Organization, Board of Directors, and appropriate civic groups.
 Overview of PositionRESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
  1. Leadership
    1. Develop, evaluate, and lead direct reports in their role as leaders in the building.
    2. Execute the Strategic Plan with the Executive Principal by focusing on student success and academic excellence.
    3. Implement the school’s educational design, including standards, assessments, instructional guidelines, ability grouping, and school culture. Oversee and ensure compliance and coordination of statewide and school assessments.
    4. Cultivate opportunities to showcase Flagstaff Academy by attending and presenting to local, state, regional, and national professional educational
 
organizations. Establish Flagstaff as an academic leader by staying current with academic developments and trends.
    1. Representing Flagstaff Academy in a positive light in the community, student recruiting, and marketing.
 
  1. Relationship Building
    1. Represent the school by planning or attending outside activities such as district meetings, student recruitment events, and community functions.
    2. Lead staff through data disaggregation processes in conjunction with other academic leaders.
    3. Aid and participate in the administration of the MTSS process, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.
    4. Support parents and relationships between families and the school.
    5. Work with teachers, parents, and Registrar to develop class lists and optimize student/teacher relationships.
 
  1. Management
    1. Plan, attend, and lead school faculty meetings.
    2. Provide administrative support to teachers who request it for parent conferences or communication.
    3. Comply with all social services regulations, including mandatory reporting of allegations of abuse.
    4. Assist with all safety and emergency drills and operations.
    5. Support Human Resources in the maintenance and organization of teacher credentials and annual evaluations.
    6. Assist in the development and management of the annual operating budget.
    7. Assessment Coordination - Schedule, train, and oversee student data collection and management including iReady, CMAS, and ACCESS testing.
    8. Assist in management of student data using internal documents, Infinite Campus, and applicable data warehouses.
 
  1. Academic Leadership
    1. Analyze multiple forms of student data and make appropriate recommendations for curriculum, instructional enhancements, and professional development.
    2. Participate in the supervision and evaluation process for all faculty members, assisting with screening, selecting, assigning, supervising, and evaluating performance.
    3. Plan and lead professional development and professional learning communities.
    4. Facilitate regular data meetings with teachers to discuss student performance and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
    5. Confer with teachers regarding instructional practices, techniques, coaching, including the development and administration of improvement plans as needed.
    6. Ensure Special Education, IEP, Gifted and Talented, MTSS, and 504 programs meet federal and state regulations.
 
  1. Behavior and Culture
 
    1. Direct the implementation of the CHAMPS classroom management program, PBIS, and Restorative Discipline Plan in the school.
    2. Maintain effective and timely communication with parents, teachers, staff, and students regarding questions and issues regarding behavior.
    3. Promote a kind and restorative culture among the faculty, staff, students and families.
 Job Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Understanding of the State Unified Improvement Planning Process.
  2. Understanding of research-proven instructional strategies and coaching models.
  3. Ability to interpret and communicate student data, including iReady and Colorado Growth and Achievement models (CMAS).
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with the implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards and familiarity with the Core Knowledge Sequence.
  5. Entrepreneurial spirit and the capability to embrace change.
  6. Strong systems orientation, teamwork, and commitment to follow through.
 Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
  • Licensed as a teacher and a principal in the State of Colorado.
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience and a minimum of 3 years experience as a school leader with a proven track-record of success.
  • General understanding of instructional technology and Google Apps for Education.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional staff development resulting in improved student outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation, or management of curriculum, instructional practices, and teacher development.
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic educational initiatives that result in measurable improvements in student achievement.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Core Knowledge sequence, instructional technology, and innovative teaching practices.
  • Experience and knowledge of budget preparation and management in alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Professional experience in science or technical field, or demonstrated educational experience in integrating science and technology into academic disciplines.
 
About Flagstaff Academy Charter SchoolLocated in Longmont, Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades kindergarten through eighth. Our school also offers a tuition-based full- and part-time preschool program for three and four year olds.

 Salary RangeSalary for our administration staff is competitive and based on years of experience and level of education.
