Position- Elementary Music Teacher (full-time), K - 5th grades
Location- Pratt Elementary
301 West 35th Street
Sand Springs, Oklahoma 74063
Supervisor: Site Principal- Jay Rotert
Contract: 180 days/ 7 hours daily
Salary Schedule: Sand Springs Public Schools Certified Salary Schedule (based on years of certification)
Status: Exempt
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Demonstrate the competencies and behaviors needed to improve student preparedness with
mastery of skills and grade-level curriculum and to support the core values, vision, and mission
of Sand Springs Public Schools.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop academically and socially. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Teaching certification in Elementary Education or music-related and recognized by the State of Oklahoma
Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Applicants must also be able to pass an OSBI Background Check
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Teaches academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education and activities aligned to current state standards.
Adheres to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.
Able to provide a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
Instruct pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Monitors and evaluates pupils' academic and social growth toward goals, makes adjustments as needed, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and providing interventions/resources for pupils' health, social-emotional, and academic needs.
Enhances professional pedagogy through in-service education provided by the district and self-selected professional growth opportunities. In addition to this, sets goals for professional growth and seeks guidance.
Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee's supervisor based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
