Mercy Home for Children is looking to hire Medical Direct Support Professionals for our Brooklyn Residences. Bring your positive can do attitude, compassion, care and enthusiasm to work with our people with disabilities.
Essential Functions:
- Transport the individuals to various medical appointments
- Schedule all medical appointments in coordination with the Nurse and Manager
- Maintenance of a medical appointment calendar in coordination with the Nurse and Manager
- Meets with the Nurse and Manager weekly to coordinate information brought to and from appointments
- Perform daily check of medication and supplies
- Serve as a liaison between the medical providers, staff and Mercy Home
- Assist individuals to achieve and exceed their personal goals
- Assist individuals with personal hygiene and ensure they the individuals are clean, well-groomed, and dressed appropriately at all times; and prepare meals as required
- Attain and maintain Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) certification and administer medication where required
- Implement goal methodologies, collect accurate data and accurately complete documentation
- Communicate effectively with individuals served, team members, families, visitors, and others
- Participate in the planning and implementation of recreational activities
- Ensure all required documentation is accurately completed including but not limited to data, daily logs, and incident reports,
- Perform SCIP-R, CPR, and First Aid as required; intervene and assist with behavioral issues
High School Diploma or a GED. Valid & Unrestricted N.Y.S. Driver’s License for a minimum of 3 years, along with current AMAP certification from a similar agency and experience with people with developmental disabilities. Plus provide a copy of your COVID vaccine card.
