Counseling In Schools is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill part-time hourly positions as After School Specialty Instructors at PS 47. In this role, Specialty Instructors are required to work with groups of elementary age children in a public school setting in the Bronx, NY during after-school program hours to facilitate lessons around their specific field of speciality (ie: dance, robotics, cooking, etc) Instructors are expected to provide a safe and positive environment for the children with opportunities for recreation, learning, interaction and academic/personal growth. Instructors may also be requested to assist with homework help and occasional field trips.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must have a strong interest in working with youth, provide guidance and inspiration.
- Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth in grades K-5
- Maintain a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students
- Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication, behavior and community.
- Model and uphold all agency and school policies and procedures
- Facilitate daily lessons in specialty area for multiple groups of students
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Energetic, passionate and responsible
- Experience working with youth.
- Experience working with Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) SACC programs preferred
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to facilitate lessons in a specialty area such as STEM, Sports, Cosmetology, Gaming, Coding, Cooking, Dance, Sports, etc.
Schedule Logistics:
- This is an hourly position (7- 17.5 hrs weekly)
- Monday - Thursday / On-Site
- 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
- Location: Bronx, NY
Additional Info:
- Compensation: $40.00/hr depending on education and experience.
- Candidate must clear a security background check and health screening from the Department of Education, Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and Department of Health.
