Sensor Electronics Technician

The Field Operations team is responsible for the installation and maintenance of remote sensor systems in North America. These sensors collect data for a variety of applications in the commodities markets in which we participate. As a Sensor Electronics Technician for MRI, you will be responsible for day-to-day activities in our lab, located in Louisville, KY. The key areas of responsibility are:
Sensor system assembly
- Assembly of sensor components into weatherproof enclosures.
- Wiring of DC and AC components.
- Initial power-up, configuration, calibration, and bench testing.
Asset management
- Tagging and cataloging of assets into inventory tracking systems.
- Procurement of sensor components, supplies, and tools
- Shipping and receiving of sensor systems to and from the field.
Troubleshooting and repair
- Provide first line support to existing sensors in the field. Use tools to assess system health remotely and suggest resolution or repair actions. As necessary, execute remote firmware upgrades.
- Diagnose returned systems from the field and make necessary repairs.
Skills and requirements:
- Attention to detail: careful adherence to written procedures, wiring diagrams, device configuration steps, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with basic DC electronics systems, wire terminations and the use of a multi-meter.
- Experienced with electrician-type hand tools and a basic mechanical knowledge (mounting brackets, DIN rail, drilling and tapping holes).
- Terminating cable assemblies with connectors, such as ethernet (RJ45) and coaxial.
- Comfortable working with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
