The Electronics Technician is responsible for assembling and testing production units prior to shipment.
Responsibilities:
• Setting up and calibrating electronics systems by following schematics and diagrams.
• Assembling electronic board sub-assemblies into chassis.
• Occasional soldering of components at the board level.
• Calibration and QC testing of sub and final assemblies.
• Assembly and testing of engineering prototypes as well as other production related support activities such as acceptance testing of incoming components and assemblies.
• Troubleshooting problems with electronics and making necessary repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair field faults under RMAs.
• Communicating with internal departments, including engineers and service technicians, to understand problems and provide progress updates.
• Maintaining logs that provide dates and details of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Adhering to health and safety rules and regulations.
• May require some national and/or international travel to supervise installation of equipment, equipment commissioning, troubleshooting and repair and user training on installed equipment and software.
Qualifications:
• Two-year certificate in electronic technology.
• Minimum of two years of work experience in the industry.
• Demonstrated proficiency at interpreting diagrams, schematics, and assembly drawings.
• Deep familiarity with electronic components, circuitry, wiring and splicing.
• Experienced in the use of electronic measurement and test equipment.
• Ability to operate tools such as multimeters, soldering stations, precision screwdrivers, rotary tools, and 3D printers, and to distinguish between assorted colors of wiring.
• Must be experienced in assembly of electronic circuit boards.
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and devise solutions at the board and system level.
• Interpersonal and oral communication skills to interact, collaborate and provide instruction.
• Written communication skills to keep accurate, easy-to-understand reports.
• Observational skills to notice potential problems.
• Strong computer skills.
