Job Summary:
The Electrician position performs skilled electrical maintenance and installation tasks. Duties include the installation and maintenance of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, appliances and equipment. Work is performed in dwelling units, common areas, basements, rooftops, and grounds. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned electrical systems and components.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs the installation of electrical wiring systems to switches, outlets, lights, transformers, etc. in accordance with appropriate electrical safety codes
- Performs internal and external connections of complicated electrical equipment such as motor controllers, switchboxes, transformers, generators on multiphase circuit, etc., by referring to circuit diagrams, blueprints, schematics, etc.
- Performs electrical maintenance and repair to various equipment, fire alarms systems, intercom systems, emergency lighting systems, compactors, replacing burned out elements, fuses and/or switches, and tightening loose connections
- Plans the routing, placement type, size, gauge, load, capacity, etc. of wiring systems by interpreting building plans blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical maintenance and repair manuals, etc. to ensure the proper installation and safe operation of wiring circuit and lines
- Conduct troubleshooting of circuits using appropriate equipment
- Performs other related duties of a Maintenance Mechanic, as required, according to priorities set by Director of Maintenance or Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts Electrician’s License (journeyman or master)
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
- Knowledge of National, State and Local electrical codes
- Knowledge of electrical theory
- Knowledge of and experience with electrical tools and equipment
- Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures used while working with electricity
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and repair manuals
- Ability to plan and layout electrical wiring systems
- Ability to receive and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to work in small quarters and at heights
- Ability to navigate and work within management information systems and maintenance software programs.
Pay Rate: $49.11 per hour
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
