Position Summary:
We have an immediate opening for an experienced Electrician to be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems throughout the campus. Our ideal candidate has at least three years of professional experience and has extensive knowledge of different types of electrical networks.
The electrician will perform a wide variety of duties involved with repairing and preventive maintenance of the Institute’s buildings and systems.
Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Identify electrical problem areas on-site that need replacement or repair.
- Perform repair or replace wiring when necessary.
- Troubleshoot and ensure that electrical systems are working properly.
- Replace ballast and receptacles as needed.
- Replace belts, pulleys, bearings, repair leaks, valves, and pumps as necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance to various building operating systems such as assisting with HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Monitor computerized “Building Management System,” as assigned and reviewed by the Building and Projects Manager.
- Assist with HVAC, and act as part of the Institute’s on-call program.
- Follow all safety rules, regulations, and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Min. Starting Salary:: $30.50/hr.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Massachusetts Electrician License.
- Proficient with standard industry tools and techniques.
- Able to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of electrician experience required, involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers.

- Work will be performed in an office environment, museum spaces, mechanical spaces, and the outdoors. The noise level ranges from low to high. The environment is frequently dusty, and there is exposure to fumes and hot and cold temperatures. Work sometimes needs to be performed in confined spaces.
