Job description

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.

HPTech is currently pursuing an upcoming major federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the contract. At this stage, we are looking for an Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical Technician who will be responsible for supporting human factors research, as it relates to highway safety and operations, at a state-of-the-art government facility. The research is focused on improving transportation safety by strengthening the understanding of user needs, and making recommendations for roadway design, signage, and advanced transportation technologies, with a goal of reducing transportation-related fatalities and injuries across the transportation system. The human factors research facility includes a Virtual Reality (VR) Laboratory, a Highway Driving Simulator (HDS), a miniSim™ Driving Simulator, a Highway Sign Design and Research Facility, and several Field Research Vehicles (FRV).

Qualifications

  • An associate degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing, evaluating, testing, installing, operating, and maintaining complex electrical, electronic and mechanical instrumentation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of electronic and video systems commonly used in simulators.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up programs for computer control of experimental research equipment.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Excellent team and collaborative skills.

This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the contract award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, Virginia.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

For timely consideration, submit your resumes by April 4, 2024.

HPTech is an Equal Opportunity Employer
