The Plant Engineering & Maintenance – Electrical Utilities Sr. Specialist (Instrumentation & Controls) is responsible fordesign, procurement, installation, testing and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and instrumentation and control systems This individual shall supports utilities group in troubleshooting, developing & driving resolutions to challenges within the utilities areas, as well as productivity and improvement initiatives, plus changes related to electrical equipment and instruments and controls systems. The position serves a key role in conducting field survey and data collection/analysis, determining, and implementing solutions.
General Summary:
This position entails working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, maintenance technicians, plant operators, and quality personnel for the development and design services in support of instrumentation and controls technical operations and implementation as a part of a project team. Conducts preliminary automation control system evaluations, network architecture concepts, prepares specifications, reports, support controls programming and designs for Building Automation Systems, Fire Alarm System, Access Control, Controlled Temperature Units (CTU), Power Monitoringand various standalone PLC/HMI control equipment associated to various utilities. Verify design, review projectinstallation and perform Pre-Startup Safety Review, submittal reviews, factory acceptance testing, and contract closeout. Manage contractors, including site specific permits, and safety requirements.Prepare electrical design deliverables, including cable schedule, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation packages. Prepare controls design deliverables, including input/output (I/O) list, logic diagrams, graphic sketches, alarm management, and control system programming.
Responsibilities:
Provides technicalassistanceto site maintenance and plant operations to enhance performance, safety, and quality improvements, and cost savings initiatives
Assist Sr. Engineer(s) or Associate Director(s) in coordinating design, procurement, installation, engineering start-up, and validation activities of new equipment and systems, focusing on instrumentation and control systems
Responsible for overall technical support within Clean and/or Black Utility systems
Develop equipment maintenance programs, ensure the availability of spare parts, and coordinate maintenance execution as necessary to ensure systems are in proper working order
Ensure systems are installed and operatingsafely and in compliance with pertinent environmental health/safety practice, rules, and regulations
Ensure necessary commissioning and qualification of systems is completed in alignment with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements
Monitor systems to identify performance risks and implement risk reduction strategies
Providing troubleshooting support to reduce production downtime. This will involve leading and/or supporting technical root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive action
Responsible for commissioning and qualification activities including automation checkouts, IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operational Qualification), and PQ (Performance Qualification)
Participate in the system walk-down, ensure the closure of punch items and support the takeover of the system from the project team
Supporting/Developing Management of Change (MOC) review process
Ability to provide On-Call support coverage

Education:
High School Diploma / GED and 10 years of experience or Associate’s Degree and 6 years of experience
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience with technical problem-solving methodologies and continuous improvement
- Must have a general knowledge of electrical systems, low voltage control systems, as well as associated maintenance equipment
- Candidate must have a good working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes, and other related Codes
- Time Management – ability to handle and prioritize a large number of simultaneous assignments
- Attention to detail and deadlines, flexibility to adapt to changing work assignments
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ethics
- Computer skills using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience designing EI&C systems and producing design documents in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Building Automation Systems (Siemens Apogee/Desigo)
- PLC/HMI (e.g. ControlLogix, PanelView, Factory Talk)
- Variable Frequency Drives
- Financial Acumen - SAP
