Electrical Technician

The Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the foundry. The role ensures a safe and functional environment by conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and performing necessary repairs. The electrician will collaborate with the maintenance team to support the overall foundry

Essential Functions – Not Necessarily in Order of importance

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with relevant codes and regulations.
• Inspect and diagnose electrical issues, utilizing technical knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, control components, photo eyes, motor starters, relays, etc.
• PLC Interface experience with advanced troubleshooting with PLC programs
• Understand and perform required LOTO procedures in a safe manner prior to maintenance on machines.
• Assist in planning and executing electrical projects, coordinating with supervisors to ensure successful project planning.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment ensuring safety by observing the local, state, and national electric code regulations that pertain to the work.
• Install or dismantle machines, replace defective parts, reassemble machines, and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation, run tests on equipment, troubleshoot problems with electrical equipment, repair and maintain existing equipment.
• Work in many verified and diverse capacities required in general maintenance such as mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic.
• Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals and other diagrams.
• Intermediate drive knowledge, electrical controls, NFPA 70E, and high voltage power systems, electrical wiring specifications, properties of various materials and the principles of operation and application of equipment.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, Ohm meters to effectively test, adjust, dismantle, repair, and reassemble or install equipment involving motors, motor controls, circuit breakers, transformers, induction heaters, overhead cranes, and other electrical equipment and systems within the plant.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Must be aware of safety hazards at all times

· Install all types of conduits, making necessary bends, threading, and reassembling where necessary.

· Periodically inspect electrical equipment for electrical trouble or preventive maintenance

· Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

High school degree or GED or higher

Valid electrician’s license or journeyman certification required.

Minimum 2 years of heavy industrial electrical maintenance, installations, troubleshooting and repairing experience

Working Conditions/Physical Conditions:

Must be able to bend, reach, lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

Exposure to PPE and working environment typical to foundry workshop.

Must be able to climb up on ladders, equipment, and roofs as necessary.
