The Position
As an Electrical Engineer in the Diabetes Care business area, you will be part of a global Agile team to design and develop the next generation innovative solutions for diabetes management. This includes collaborating with cross-functional internal teams and strategic external partners to bring exciting new Roche Accu-Chek products into production and introduce these products to the global markets. The individual filling this role will enjoy working hands-on to develop low-power embedded systems where the software, electronics, mechanics and chemistry come together to change the lives of the patients we serve
Main responsibilities
Provides Electrical Engineering expertise to support product and/or process development and lifecycle management, including design, development, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, etc.
Responsible for realization of product designs through translation of requirements and design specifications, coordinating with internal & external resources to ensure timely realization of project deliverables.
Contributes to the definition of electrical specifications and provides analysis, including various options to realize the proposed design.
Performs research and analysis of various technologies required to determine applicability to current product development and/or test efforts.
Interfaces with component vendors and Procurement as necessary to communicate electrical component requirements, and ensure project deliverables and needs are met.
Participate and support all phases of the engineering testing responsibilities and deliverables for the assigned project.
Interface with Product Support functions for product design transfer to manufacturing, maintenance and investigation of in-field products.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with electrical emphasis or closely related discipline
5+ years of relevant work experience in an appropriate engineering field, including embedded product design and development; work pursued in support of an advanced technical degree may be considered
Applies Electrical Engineering principles in a broad range of technical assignments, making independent decisions based on sound reasoning and analysis
Experience with electronic design techniques for low voltage battery operated products, including schematic capture, simulation, PCB layout review and risk/fault analysis
Embedded software development experience preferred for purposes of electronics control, investigation, troubleshooting and testing
Demonstrated leadership skills as applied to the management of discrete technical projects
Interest in an advancing career where growth opportunities include management of products, projects and resources, strategic planning and helping set the company vision
Experience with medical device development, biomedical engineering, electro-chemical sensors, and a regulated product industry are all benefits
Business level fluency in English
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills; able to analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner
