Job description

Are you looking for an exciting, innovative company with over 100 years of excellence and commitment to ethical business?  Amentum is a trusted partner to United States government agencies, allied governments, and corporations worldwide supporting critical programs across a broad range of domains.  We are looking for a component engineer to support Strategic Microelectronics at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane.

Duties include:

  • Provide component engineering support to technologist team, to include writing technical reports
  • Advise military programs and designers on part selection
  • Troubleshoot component issues and recommend solutions
  • Understand electrical test methods and techniques, failure analysis tools and techniques, and material analysis tools and techniques
  • Interface with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs, and other government agencies
  • Develop and review test plan documentation
  • Provide complete life-cycle support of strategic systems
  • Participate in Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Audits, participate in Joint Electronic Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) meetings, and perform reviews and make recommendations on Military Performance Specifications and Test Methods
  • Travel is required 25-50% of the time

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Component or Systems Engineering experience
  • Ability to communicate ideas to customers, program office, colleagues, and contractors
  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel with the ability to learn more complex functions
  • Ability to write technical reports
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Please note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of military industry standards (MIL-STD)
  • Component Engineer with a focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts
  • Understanding of the differences between military, industry, commercial, and automotive standards
  • Active Secret Clearance
