Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for design, development, improvement and execution of battery and charger systems architecture and components. The individual will be responsible for defining, documenting, and designing overall electrical architecture, being design responsible for key electrical systems and components, and overseeing validation of those components and systems. This individual will work closely with our NPI teams, as well key suppliers and the validation/testing teams. Additionally, the role of the Electrical Engineer is to provide sustaining support of products in production.
Duties Include:
- Develop electrical design for new smart battery and charger products.
- Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical design plans and work schedules.
- Generate specifications for the product and documentation for the design.
- Lead specification and design reviews.
- Create schematics, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
- Support prototype builds.
- Define production test requirements.
- Perform circuit analysis using computer models where applicable.
- Support building and testing breadboards and/or early prototypes for earlyvalidation of designs.
- Expected to develop knowledge of IC’s used for fuel gauge and safety circuit design for Lithium (cell chemistry) battery packs, and Charger IC’s used in charging Lithium Ion battery packs.
- Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Participate in project teams and in all activities related to the development of new products.
- Adhere to project schedules and cost targets
- Assist, as needed, in technical support of some existing electronic products currently in production.
Requirements:
- This position requires a BSEE degree and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- Knowledge in low to medium power analog circuit design.
- Experience in the selection and use of power semiconductors.
- Experience in the design of buck and boost regulators.
- Must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, as well as empirical skills in math, physics and electronics.
- Knowledge of PCs and applications software, including spreadsheets, word processors, and schematic capture programs in a windows based environment is mandatory.
- Must be able to communicate in a fast-paced multi-disciplined environment.
- Familiarity with Safety and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Regulatory certification requirements.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as will be required to interface with customers, suppliers and team members.
