Role Summary


The Electrical Engineer role at MCSG resides within the Engineering department and reports to the Director of Engineering. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and improve electromechanical coffee appliances, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. You’ll work on interesting and challenging projects in support of our Synesso and Concordia lines of commercial espresso and bean to cup automated coffee machines.

Requirements:


  • Be a Team player, self-starter, and own projects.
  • Work directly with and provide support to the engineering, production, and quality teams.
  • Use your Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment and machines.
  • Design, improve, and troubleshoot software, firmware, and electrical systems.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
  • See designs through from inception to field implementation.
  • Establish and conduct testing and validation plans of electrical systems to identify and address any issues.
  • Work on continuous improvement initiatives to improve product performance and customer value for the organization.
  • Apply agency certification requirements (UL, NSF, ETL, CE, CB Scheme) to your work.
  • Use Engineering Change procedures and processes.
  • Ability to work productively in a business that inherently has high levels of ambiguity.
  • Ability to be on-site at the location is required.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as an EE, with a focus on electromechanical systems.
  • Embedded hardware design of sensor, motor control, and communication systems
  • Schematic and PCB prototyping, testing, and documentation in Altium
  • Experience with SPI, UART, RS232, MODBUS, TCP/IP, and wireless protocol implementation, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Ability to create detail-oriented technical documentation to advise production, create wiring pinouts, advise field service techs, and create wiring harness drawings.
  • Understanding of power supply design and voltage regulation.
  • Knowledge of electrical compliance for consumer products (UL, NSF, ETL, CE, CB Scheme)
  • Testing electrical devices with DMM, oscilloscopes, programmer/debuggers
  • Proficiency in designing and building cable harnesses.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building electromechanical/mechatronic systems.
  • Experience with low level firmware implementation and troubleshooting
  • Experience with programming and integrating microcontrollers like Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
  • Ability to summarize technical information and project status for communication with nontechnical upper management, stakeholders, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically and dive into the details when needed.

  • ERP (especially Syteline) Knowledge
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Team player, self-starter, owns their projects.
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Smartsheet experience
  • Project Management Experience
  • Prior experience working in manufacturing, preferably in the coffee industry and/or machinery, is a plus.
