Design engineer plays critical role in the company to design systems per customer order
The Electrical Designer’s primary responsibility is to design high quality industrial control system panels used various industries mentioned above. This is a critical role and requires collaboration with lead Design Engineer, manufacturing, and customer.
The Electrical Designer will also advise our in-house panel shop during manufacturing and be an integral part of our Systems Engineering department where they will participate in initiatives related to process improvement and cost-out.
We are looking for motivated candidates with strong skills in electrical control panel design, a good understanding of common automation system components, and good communication skills. Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives, and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes.
Lead Responsibilities:
Review customer orders thoroughly and design to meet customer requirements within the scope of the order
Work with the lead engineer, project manager and create a concept and detailed electrical and mechanical design package for the application per the order. This involves
Create single-line electrical schematics from similar systems or from a clean slate
Complete load, voltage, amperage, and heat calculations to ensure proper design
Verify conformance of components to customer specifications
Making sure all parts on the drawings are added to the bill of material (buy, make parts)
Make sure long lead items are added to the bill of material as soon as possible to prevent delays
Conduct concept and detailed design review meetings along with other team members with customers to obtain design sign-off
Use SolidWorks electrical and mechanical to produce design package for the application
Understand proper wiring methods and codes
Work with in-house panel shop to ensure proper panel build and provide guidance as necessary
Understand priorities and meet the promised date of completion of tasks
Work with ERP system to review order details, parts database, engineering details, bill of material creation, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree in a related technical field (Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, etc.) with 2+ years of experience in industrial machinery control design
Experience using 3D and 2D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred, AutoCAD platform, etc.)
Ability to read electrical schematics and component specification sheets
Experience with electrical system packaging containing transformers, contactors, circuit breakers, VFDs, PLCs, etc.
Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork
Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects at the same time
Self-starter with the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision
Effective oral and written communication skills
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in related engineering disciplines.
Familiarity with PLCs, embedded controllers, and data acquisition systems.
Knowledge of UL and CE standards as they relate to industrial control panels.
Experience with Solidworks 3D Mechanical and Electrical
