We have partnered with a large manufacturing company in the Chicago, IL area to provide them with an Electrical Design Engineer. Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested.
Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Electrical Design Engineer:
#1. Must have manufacturing experience.
#2. Must be willing to travel 20%
#3. No more than 3 jobs in the last 10 years.
Responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Design and draft arrangement of linkage of conductors, relays, and other components
- Program simple control systems for cam, servo, and air operated stations, along with test and electrical devices.
- Ensure the Electrical Design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
- Determine power and load requirements/restrictions.
- Design and draft diagrams of cable connection.
- Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate standards, GAMP5 and regulatory requirements.
- Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components.
- Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.
- Guide Electricians in wiring and codes. Support software Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) requirements.
- Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
- Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.
- Problem-solve with Mechanical Builders, debug software issues, and update all appropriate documentation.
- Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
- Work closely with Mechanical Engineering and Build and exhibit objectivity and openness to others views.
- Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace.
Secondary Responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal and international standards.
- Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
- Support and participate in Quality Management Program.
- Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery Operating Manuals.
- Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements.
- Keeps abreast of current product developments.
- Travel or extend work day if required.
- Maintain International Standardization Organization ISO13485 standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Preferred college degree in electrical or engineering related field.
- Minimum Electrician's certificate with demonstrable experience in modern wiring methods.
- Recent college graduate or less than 3 years' automation experience.
- Exposure to Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC's, HMI's, Servo control, and Electrical design.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations (frequency distribution, test reliability and validity determination, variance analysis, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis)
- Good knowledge of electromechanical relationships of an entire automation system
- Ability to design basic power distribution and control circuits
- Understands electrical codes and standards, including UL, CE, NFPA, etc.
Equipment:
- Computers, including programs such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Excel, Word, Automation databases, etc.
- Inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, dB meters, etc.
Other Key Requirements:
- Work on-site.
- No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
