Electrician and Instrumentation Technician

Business/Function Overview
This position has responsibility for operating, maintaining, and trouble-shooting the site's electrical distribution systems. The position provides Electrical and Instrumentation support for general electrical maintenance for the various types of equipment related to R&D operations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are limited to the following:

• Safely maintains and repairs electrical equipment and Instrumentation (E&I) Provides daily support to operations to make necessary repairs.
• Performs routine maintenance on site/facility electrical systems, including generator testing calibrations, interlocks, and repairs on all types of instrumentation, pneumatic, and electronics to maintain safe and reliable operations.
• Knowledge of and use of electrical test equipment, volt, OHM, amp meters to calibrate electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of series and parallel circuits pertaining to lighting, controls, heat tracing and interlocks.
• Performs routine installation of electrical raceways and Instrument tubing, including conduit and tubing bending and installation of associated fittings
• Performs basic maintenance on automated control systems, Programmable Logic Control (PLC)/Distributed Control System (DCS), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
• Follows National Electrical Code (NEC) while on the job. Knows and follows safety procedures to safely perform electrical work using proper PPE.
• The ability to diagnose, and repair related equipment such as motor control centers, high and low voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Maintains availability for off-hours response as business needs require. This position may require alternate shift coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, Trade school, or military training
• Min. 5 yrs. experience in Commercial / Industrial electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Must hold the State of Delaware, Journeyperson Electrical Professional License.
• Demonstrate ability to interact and communicate with diverse groups.
• Knowledge to use hand tools, portable power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)
• Willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors. All weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50lbs and repetitive motion.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to frequently stand, climb, lift, pull and/or push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop, and crouch.
• Work as a self-managed individual, solve problems, make independent decisions, critical / analytical thinking.

Additional Experience Preferred:

• Delaware State Electrical Master's License is not required but preferred.
• ISA certification or equivalent recommended but not required.

• Knowledge of powerhouse and boiler operations for steam production.

• Familiar with preventative and predictive maintenance tools such as thermographic imaging etc.
• Knowledge of high-voltage electrical distribution systems, 35,000-volt systems and transformers.
• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems, i.e. Argus, Andover, Honeywell etc. Preferred but not required.
