Job Description
- Using established checklists, conduct routine workplace inspections to identify safety hazards, environmental issues, and health risks.
- Collect data on air quality, noise levels, chemical exposure, and other relevant parameters.
- Assist with analyzing collected data to identify trends, potential hazards, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and environmental monitoring activities.
- Organize and file EHS documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare reports summarizing findings and trends for review by EHS professionals.
- Ensure that safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, personal protective equipment) is in good working condition and readily available.
- Schedule and oversee regular inspections and maintenance of safety equipment.
- Help coordinate safety meetings and training sessions.
- Support in tracking and documenting employee safety training and certification records.
- Participate in drills and exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response protocols.
- Ensure emergency response equipment and supplies are well-maintained and accessible.
- Participate in investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
- Participate in information gathering and documentation of related incidents.
- Assist in determining root causes and contributing factors.
- Help ensure the organization complies with all relevant EHS laws and regulations.
- Assist with conducting audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions and follow-up on compliance issues.
- Assist in communicating safety policies, procedures, and updates to employees.
- Be a point of contact for EHS-related inquiries and concerns from employees.
- Assist in environmental impact assessments and sustainability initiatives.
- Familiarity with safety procedures, protocols, and best practices for various workplace settings.
- Knowledge of agencies such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
- Safety certification or industry-recognized credentials.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, safety, or health-related field preferred.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing, demonstrating proficiency with vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation; experience speaking before groups to explain or demonstrate.
- Proficiency in utilizing MS Office software, including MS Word, Excel, and Access.
- Able to reason, display sound judgment, and prioritize work and work in stressful situations.
- A minimum of one year of practical experience in a workplace setting, preferably in roles related to safety, environmental compliance, or related fields.
- Prior exposure to EHS practices and principles through coursework, internships, or entry-level positions.
