In this role: This position provides strategic direction and oversight for EHS, corporate safety, and environmental support to identify, eliminate and reduce exposures while creating a safe and compliant work environment. This role will be the local EHS representative and trainer; providing input on environmental and facilities needs and knowledgeable about shipping requirements.
What you will be doing:
- Organize and manage the safety committee and cross-functional teams
- Responsible for providing technical expertise, tasking, training, and oversight on company facilities across Stratasys. To include emergency management drills and exercises to test organizations' systems and response capabilities
- Works as a subject matter expert to develop and implement EHS Standards and programs to ensure compliance with safety and health requirements under federal/state/local regulatory conditions, EPA, and SSYS standards
- Ensure facilities are operating in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and requirements as codified in state and federal OSHA regulations or otherwise referenced (typically through a site audit, gap analysis, and closure process)
- Champion initiatives that identify and communicate facility risk exposures prioritize risk reduction needs, and drive closure of recommendations to reduce the identified risks
- Consistently evaluates the site's EHS process and programs to improve to achieve world-class performance
- Maintain plant safety by directing safety programs to protect employees against harm and maintain a safe working environment
- Conduct job hazard analyses to ensure safe work environments according to EHS standards
- Trained on shipping Dangerous Goods (DG) by Land, Air, and Sea
- IATA, IMDG, and DOT hazmat regulations
- Completing the Dangerous Goods (DG) declarations form
- Overpacking and labeling/marking requirements for hazmat
- Navigate through an SDS to find the information needed
- Respond to government agency correspondences and requests professionally, respectfully, and expeditious manner
- Manage and direct departmental environmental, health, and safety objectives
- Reinforce compliance with all company and government safety policies, SDS, procedures, and regulations
- Develop routine regulatory reports required by the various environmental permits, conduct required activities to maintain the licenses, and file reapplications necessary to meet business needs
- Partners with each facility on requirements to modify programs based on local and state requirements
Must have for this role:
Four Year Degree in Environmental Engineering, Health, Industrial, Environmental Science, or other related field
- A minimum of 2 years of EHS experience and one year in an EHS auditing role
- Track record of leading EHS programs and improved performance at individual site locations and across a company
- Experience working with management and data collection systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives
- Ability to work in a matrixed, team-oriented environment
- Hands-on experience in the implementation of several of the occupational health components within an EHS program (JHA/JSA, hearing conservation, hazard communication, RPE, PPE, bloodborne pathogens, laboratory safety, IAQ, and air sampling)
Nice to have:
- Trained on shipping Dangerous Goods (DG) by Land, Air, and Sea
- In-depth understanding of the Environmental, Health, and Safety area, policies, laws, procedures CMMS/Work order Management
- Previous experience implementing policies and procedures that are protective of the environment, personnel, equipment, and business interests, including the leading of culture change required to embrace those policy and procedure changes
- Intermediate computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and internet search engine
Travel Requirements: 30% domestic (Elgin, IL)
