Join our team as a Sr. Environmental Health and Safety Specialist.

On-site in Rosemount.

You Will:

  • Work directly with business group leaders as a safety resource; providing safety, ergonomic and regulatory guidance on process implementations and modifications.
  • Lead environmental compliance, including performing environmental audits, spill reporting and permitting.
  • Evaluate plans to protect or improve air, soil, and water quality to ensure a healthy and clean environment.
  • Investigate safety incidents, close calls, chemical spills, and environmental releases including formal root-cause analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain safety metric boards in respective plants, prepare, file and coordinate submission of regulatory reports (OSHA 300, SARA and other environmental permitting and reporting).
  • Implement required EHS and safety training to promote safety awareness and address unsafe behavior and conditions. Examples include AWAIR, Right to Know, Lock Out-Tag Out, Severe Weather Emergency, Evacuation, Blood-borne Pathogen Control, Ergonomics, and others as required.
  • Attend Mfg. Team Huddles in support of safety initiatives and processing safety related catch cards.
  • Lead Safety Committee and associated activities following up on action items
  • Develop EHS content for onboarding new employees
  • Partner and guide plant leadership in understanding OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on compliance, inspections, and citations.
  • Conduct site audits to identify occupational hazards and regulatory compliance issues. Develop and implement corrective and preventive measures to eliminate out-of-compliance audit findings.
  • Partner and guide HR and Plant leadership in managing and enforcing compliance on all safety programs, including PPE, Fall Protection, Lockout Tagout, etc.
  • Promote Safety awareness through internal company communication screens, newsletters and specific training programs.
  • Maintain emergency response programs and lead emergency response drills
  • Stay apprised of developments in County, State, and Federal laws that affect the Company’s interests and operations.
  • Maintain SDS documentation, to include evaluation of new products for safety and environmental impact.
  • Manage EHS information to include required files, retention of records, and journals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

You Have:

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree in relevant area of study with 4+ years’ applicable experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience conducting EHS inspections, promoting and monitoring workplace safety and environmental compliance
  • Experience with medium to hig- risk operations and ergonomic programs with positive results
  • Experience leading a multifunctional team

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to conduct complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgement
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Proven knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations, industry EHS standards and a record of implementation of programs for compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of Engineering, Operations, and Management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities while consistently delivering on time/high quality results
  • A high degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Proficient in MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with ISO 14001/45001 management and implementation of continuous improvement.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification or equivalent
  • Proficient with incident reporting database system and Environmental system
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering, geography, geology, hydraulics, biology, chemistry, and hydrology to identify and mitigate sources of environmental pollution.

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking. This job function is performed in an Office/manufacturing setting. There will be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery, therefore noise/eye protection and safety shoes may be required in designated areas. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
