About the Position
The EHS Specialist (Environmental, Health, and Safety) helps prevent workplace injuries, reduce health risks, and ensure VitalPath is in compliance with federal and local mandates. In this position, you will travel to worksites to support at a site level with training, implementation to new processes, safety committees, identifying potential risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. With your valued experience you will develop and implement risk reduction strategies while updating and creating new policies. As part of your risk reduction duties, you will promote safety awareness among our employees, safety committees, or by leading trainings or distributing informational material on emergency response plans.
Responsibilities

• Works with HR, Quality and EHS leadership to ensure programs, policies and procedures are targeted towards One VitalPath across all sites
• Evaluate organizations procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions while implementing or recommending safeguards and solutions to reduce or eliminate risks
• Ensures the organization complies with all current MnOSHA safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements
• Works with HR, Operations, supervisors or leads in collecting data and reports on all safety incident events
• Conduct training or “train the trainer” sessions to ensure VitalPath employees are developing safe practices and behaviors
• Establish, support, and sustain Safety Committees
• Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the committee(s)
• Escalate vital safety information to EHS leadership
• Ensure all waste streams (industrial hygiene) follow best practices guided by VitalPath’s safety team
• Track and provide annual reports for wastewater and hazardous material to local government agencies
• Encourages and assists with Tier meeting safety topics and monthly safety newspaper
• Establishes and reports weekly/monthly/annual safety KPI’s to site and leadership
• Work with Laser Safety Office (LSO) to ensure they are getting informed of changes and support they need to establish safe laser environments and operations
• Responsible for OSHA reporting as required
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree with 2 Years’ experience OR a total of 4 years with related work experience
• OSHA Advanced Safety Certification
• Strong problem-solving skills and documentation practices
• Having attention to detail and ability to work independently to complete assignments in required time
• Must exhibit a willingness to work as a team with leadership and promote teamwork among other employees
• Be boots on the ground subject matter expert regarding safety culture and practices
• Ability to recognize problems and implement the appropriate solution in a timely manner
• Understand the importance of change management as it pertains to safety
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff and support organization in a pleasant manner
• Detailed knowledge of Clean Room Operations
• Ability to travel to and manage multiple sites (1 site daily – no mid-day travel)
• Office and Cleanroom environments

• Medical device industry experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of ISO 13485 Medical Device process validation requirements
• BCSP Certificate (Board Certified Safety Professional)
• Emergency response best practices
• Hazwopper certification
• Occupational Hygiene and Safety certification
• Previous experience working in environments supporting multiple sites
