The EHS Specialist provides technical expertise and support/guidance to personnel to aid in the elimination of workplace injuries and illnesses, provide environmental management and ensure regulatory compliance through competent Industrial Hygiene support. The EHS Specialist will ensure the industrial hygiene and ergonomic programs align with company goals and objectives and with OSHA and other applicable regulatory agencies. EHS Specialist will support the EHS Manager as a leader in the organization in promoting and implementing a safe work environment and instilling a culture of safe and compliant behavior.
Your responsibilities:
  • Provides practical support on matters related to Industrial Hygiene and ergonomics across a wide range of applications.
  • Demonstrates a 'hands on' approach to EHS, developing a trusted relationship with Plant/Site personnel.
  • Deploys EHS programmes, tools and campaigns aimed at improving EHS performance on agreement with the Plant EHS Manager and Plant Management team.
  • Assists in the ownership of key EHS policies and programs, continuously looking for improvement opportunities.
  • Develops and manages site Ergonomic program, working with EHS, Engineering, Operations, and Management teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and solutions.
  • Is a role model for EHS, fully delivering on personal EHS objectives and leading by example by exhibiting the highest levels of EHS behavior.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Team Members, Plant Managers, and other Parties that convey trust, confidence, and respect.
  • Examine work environments for various physical, chemical, biological and environmental hazards and stresses and make recommendations for improvements to process and equipment. Conduct exposure evaluations and assist with design and performance of industrial hygiene program development.
  • Generate and manage accurate notes and data on activities and evaluations performed.
  • Conduct office safety and industrial area inspections.
  • Manage ergonomic program, including completing task risk assessments using HumanTech© software. Prioritize high risk tasks and partner with engineering and operations to drive corrective actions to reduce risk.
  • Implement site Stretching Program and evaluate departments for job rotation program opportunities.
  • Promote self-care measures to reduce muscular skeletal occurrences in the workplace.
  • Manage safety data sheets, chain of custody forms, coordinate shipping, prepare samples for shipment to laboratory, and ensure supply stocks are adequate.
  • Deliver clear, concise verbal and written communication about an issue, including recommendations based on findings.
  • Initiate and follow-up on issues to ensure compliance, independently with accountability.
  • Consult and advise company personnel concerning safety or environmental risks that require escalated management attention and action.
  • Maintain excel databases and analyze data statistics including the use of the company IH software platform.
  • Operate and maintain industrial Hygiene instruments.
  • Assist with equipment and electronics inventories, calibration, coordination, and shipping.
  • Conduct technical research and assist with health & safety audits.
  • Submit administrative paperwork and project deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Support in the development and delivery of Health and Safety Training.

Requirements for the role:
  • BS or advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety and Occupational Health or associated field (e.g., engineering, sciences) from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with BS, or two (2) years with MS degree.
  • Able to crawl, climb over obstacles, walk on uneven surfaces such as ramps, rooftops and able to climb ladders without assistance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interface with functional team members, executive management, and customer representatives.
  • Experience in Ergonomics and/or musculoskeletal task assessments.
