Title: Education Instructor – English Language – Part Time
Location: Bellevue, WA
Work schedule:Part Time 30 hours, Monday through Friday, 6 hours per day. This position will teach on English for Work class scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00AM-12:00 PM for spring quarter. The position is expected to be on-site (a Hopelink center or a Seattle Public Library) to teach at least one day per week in person and to support students and meet with team members and volunteers as needed. Work from home available when on-site activities are not required.

The career opportunity:
The English Language Instructor teaches in the English for Work program, a one-quarter program offered year-round which is designed to support adult immigrants and refugees with developing English language skills while preparing for employment.
English for Work classes are currently offered on Zoom and are held two days per week during morning and evening hours. This position will teach on English for Work class scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00AM-12:00 PM for spring quarter. In addition, this position is expected to be on-site (a Hopelink center or a Seattle Public Library) to teach at least one day per week in person and to support students and meet with team members and volunteers as needed. Work from home available when on-site activities are not required.
This position also performs duties not directly related to teaching to support the overall Adult Education program, such as conducting outreach, assisting students with completing program intake forms, delivering program orientations, facilitating workshops, conducting CASAS testing, entering attendance and student information in a database, and coordinating volunteers who support students.

- TESOL Certification or experience in a closely related field with coursework in language teaching methodology and language acquisition theories.
- Community engagement and responsible for warmly greeting all students.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace; comfort with using Chromebooks, learning new technology, troubleshooting tech issues, and using technology tools to enhance instruction.
- Ability to accurately enter and manage client data in a database.
- Ability to work effectively with and provide language instruction services to a diverse population.
- Experience and/or desire to work with refugees.
Examples of what you will be doing:
- Teaches English for Work classes.
- Utilizes provided curriculum and develops and selects course materials for both online and hybrid instruction modes with adaptations for a variety of levels and learning needs.
- Provides timely feedback on students’ assignments in the Canvas Learning Management System.
- Delivers new student orientations and completes intake paperwork with students. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for meetings, standing, bending and lifting.
- Develop skills utilizing a client-focused, trauma informed approach, with the goal of supporting our clients in achieving stability.

- Compensation: $25.00-$27.00 hr. DOE
