Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Education Coordinator to oversee and coordinate our Forest School program in Ventura, California. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, experience working with children in outdoor settings (preferred), and excellent organizational and leadership skills. The Forest SchoolEducation Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating educational programs and initiatives, managing staff and families relations, ensuring safety protocols are followed. This role requires attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, familes, staff and stakeholders.
Duties:
- Develop and implement educational programs and curriculum
- Provide academic advising and support to students
- Coordinate administrative tasks related to student enrollment, scheduling, and records management
- Assist with recruiting and admissions processes
- Manage student progress and ensure compliance with academic policies
- Collaborate with faculty to develop course materials and assessments
- Conduct evaluations and assessments of educational programs
- Assist with writing reports and proposals
- Coordinate projects and initiatives related to education
- Oversee and maintain program policies, procedures, and safety guidelines in accordance with state and local regulations, ensuring the well-being of all participants
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Forest School program, collecting feedback from students, staff, and stakeholders to inform continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, student participation, and outcomes for reporting purposes
SKills:
- Strong background in education administration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental science, natural resources management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhhod education, outdoor education, environmental education, or a related field, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles, experiential learning techniques, and environmental conservation practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire students, parents, staff, and community partners.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Current CPR and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to off-site locations as needed.
- Passion for children, education, and environmental sustainability, with a commitment to fostering a lifelong connection to nature in young learners.
