JOB DESCRIPTION


Job Title: Education Coordinator

Department: Alaska’s People

Reports To: AKP Senior Manager

Supervises: GED Instructor, ABE Instructor

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: E4

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

AKBCU: Yes ICPA: Yes

General Functions:

The Education Coordinator will serve as the coordinator of CITC's educational initiatives, overseeing curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for reporting statistical data for the GED, ABE and 477 workshops ensuring outcomes are recorded with accuracy and in a timely manner. The Education Coordinator must have proficient knowledge of the AKP GED and 477 programs, policies, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the appropriate program databases.
  • Responsible for collecting and monitoring data input for GED, ABE and 477 Workshops. in order to develop quarterly statistics and narrative reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring all program reports, internally and externally are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for supporting outreach/recruitment of students into all AKP 477 services.
  • Proficient in the program requirements for the following 477 services: GED, ABE and 477 Employment and Training Services.
  • Recruit, interview and hire team members.
  • Provide leadership by inspiring, guiding and motivating teams.
  • Create an environment that fosters employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Identify training needs, provide opportunities for learning and growth and support the professional development of team members.
  • Evaluate performance of team members to include providing feedback, coaching, mentoring and conducting performance appraisals.
  • Under the direction of the AKP Sr. Manager and Director; develop and implement approved participant workshops.
  • Responsible for assisting AKP leadership with budget monitoring, and reconciliation for supportive services.
  • Responsible for conducting file reviews and provide feedback to the GED Instructors, and ensure that files/documentation is sufficient to pass annual audit.
  • Responsible for bringing policy issues to the Sr/Manager or AKP Director, as appropriate.
  • Along with the Job Developer conduct outreach with training/higher education partners and community employers to develop opportunities for participants.
  • Ensure the team is using participant’s strengths to develop their case management/education plans, and are documented in the database.
  • Knowledgeable of community resources available to assist our participants within CITC and outside of CITC.
  • Oversee the participant Microsoft Office and other computer/technology-focused certifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete student records in accordance with funding/program and student needs including information for the following: Application, Intake/Assessment Documents, Pre-Assessment, Learning Objectives/Education Plan, Practice Tests and Post Testing results, and other program information.
  • To work in conjunction with other case managers across CITC to provide participants with Integrated Case Management.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community resources.

Minimum Core Competencies: CITC Values, Respectful Leadership, Professionalism, Emotional Intelligence, Problem Solving/Critical Thinking, Communication Skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Vocational Education or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirement on a year for year basis.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Suite, Adobe, and other business software.
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian cultures and local community resources.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in adult education and/or teaching
  • Two (2) years’ experience in curriculum development.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon a report from a state and federal background check.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for at least three years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Education, Vocational Education or a closely related field of study.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in budget management.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in supervising staff.

Also included is the non-Native head of household members for Native families, which provides foster or traditionally adopted Native children.
